The Run Command Did
you know the run command is not limited to running programs. You can also start an email
by typing:
mailto:someone@some.com
or you can go to a website by just typing:
http://www.fogma.co.uk/prosoft
or you can read a news group by typing:
news:comp.sys.psion
Also if you just type in "." (dot) and press enter, the contents
of your desktop will appear in a My Computer window. Very useful if you don't want to
minimize everything to get to a shortcut.
To view information about your IP connection just type
"winipcfg" into the run box.
To load a command prompt with out having to hunt around in your start
menu, just type "command".
To change the shortcuts that appear in the "send to" context
menu when you right click on files, just type "sendto" into the run box, and the
send to folder will appear - a lot faster than hunting round in your windows
folder for
it! Rowan Hall has also suggested these ones as well:
".." (double dot) brings up the System Directory in a
window.
"\" or "/" brings up the root of the most
recently active drive (e.g. the one you last browsed in Explorer) or
the root of the System Drive in a window.
Please note: Not all of these commands work in Win 2k,
so they may not work in Win XP etc either.... |
